Tranny Bolts

On the top of my YJ tanny the 2 bolts were inverted Torx, think there would be any problems with switching to a straight hex head?


Damn, one of them came right out the other, I spun the head, then I tried using the easy out nut head things from Crapsman, had to go through 3 sizes, which kept making the bolt top smaller and smaller... Went from a 7/16 torx head to a 1/4" round numb....


Now I need help pulling the tranny out.... damn thing is pretty well frozen,,, can even get it to budge, need to pull while someone taps....

Anyone free?

Slam it in 1st and dump the clutch.

Thanks for the offer... I ended up getting it off with some help from Jared and Ken... Boy it was a bear... but it went quick...

Yeah I know, I completely forgot you offered... I was Liz's and was talking to Jared about coming down and then Ken called... so we all just me up... took less than an hour, but sorry for not giving you a heads up so you could have chilled with us,... wont happen again,,,,

I had those bolts too, but I just used a deep socket and grabbed the flats past the torx part.

I replaced those inverted torx with regular grade 8. That way I was able to use a stubby open end wrench from the top.
