What are your thoughts on this.... It is rated very high, but I am always very leery of metal end products...

I don't like the metal loops on the ends. Notice they are pointing to just the nylon strap when saying it's 30,000 lbs?

I got a call from Detours today. My new Superwinch snatchblock and tree saver are in.

I'm not a huge fan of the metal ends either, I would just go with a sturdy nylon one.
I may have to talk to our friendly local superwinch dealer about such a product next time I get a chance :)

In mcmaster carr.

A web shackle capable of over 30,000 lbs has a pin diameter of 1-1/2" Page 1267

Standard shackles capable of 30,000 lbs have pins 1-3/8 in diameter. page 1269

I remember pulling a d ring that looked like that apart dragging an 80lb deer out of the woods.

But don't forget - those shackles have at least a 2 or 3 to 1 safety rating for overhead lifting.

yeah, I did some quick math hear at work, and those pins would have to be at least 7/8" thick to not begin to yield in with 30k of force. If made of mild steel.

if made of 4130 chromoly, it would need to be 3/4" in diameter,

and thise is not even account for the bending stress, and all the stress concentrations that design has

TSC has a sweet 6"x8' strap looped on both ends. Not positive on the price, but I know it is <$20. Damn, I love that store!!!!

I love that store too
I got my Hi-Lift there for 43 bucks
They always seem to be sold out of there straps though they go fast
