hey all,
so i'm looking into getting some stuff for my 98 xj and needed some help on a couple of things.

firstly, after reading the XJ sticky's that were posted i realized that i have an NP242 t-case, but then i also realized that i never see slip yoke eliminators for NP242's. is there a difference between sye's for NP231's and 242's? is there a specific place i need to go to get one, or is it just something you specify when you order it?

secondly, i have seen these K&N air intakes on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7904643837&category=38634&sspagename=WD1V

anyone know if these actually improve performance and if so, does this look like everything i'll need other than tools?

and lastly, are there some decent shocks that are not too expensive (say $200 or so for 4) that i could buy for a 6" lift?

thanks in advance for all your help.

Tom Woods has a kit for the 242 with a new CV shaft.

Skip the filter for now. Save the money for more functional items (like those shocks you lookin' for).

Try calling these guys for these shocks.

I run them in my CJ and have been happy with them. Inexspensive TwinTube shock that has been working very well. And you can't beat the price. Just be sure to tell them you have 6" of lift when you call.

There is a noticable power increase with a cone filter intake. But like everyone else said get the stuff you need now, wait on the intake.

well, i will be buying the lift and stuff myself. but, i thought the intake would be a cool xmas gift. so one other thing, i went to pep boys yesterday to buy some lug nuts, and the guy told me that i needed a certain kind ( i believe they were 6B 1/2" - 20) and that it had to do with the spacing of the cone-shaped part behind the hex of the nut (did that make sense?). so i guess my question is, what do you XJ owners out there use? i just have some black rock crawlers on mine, but that shouldn't matter, right?

thanks,

I have back rock crawlers too, and my lug nuts came from pep boys. Get the Mcgard (http://www.mcgard.com/) lug nuts that they sell. They never rust! The lug nuts are 1/2" - 20, like you said. I think that the pep boys guy was clueless, or trying to ACT knowledgeable.
