Just recieved my Warn Diff Skids and they look nice and solid. I am gearing up for this spring and summer wheelin. So far I have the Skidrow engine and tranny skid, Warn steering box skid, and Warn Diff skids, soon the lower control arm skids. My Question is with almost 9000 miles on my Rubicon when I install the Warn Diff skids will the seal hold for the 2 minutes while I have the lower bolts off and install the new hex bolts and skid from Warn or should I prepare and buy some Diff fluid in case? :?

I agree - add synthetic when you have a chance

That being said - I couldn't break the seal on the diff, so I just bolted the Warn skid without changing the fluid. If you get a chance - spray paint the warn skid with a bright color prior to install. That way you can see when you hit and what you protected. Plus - due to Warn's mfg process (laser cut and powdercoat without prep) the powdercoat will chip off anyways.

thanks guys for the tips. I will probably change to synthetic when the first fliud change is due. I think I will spray paint them Yellow if I can find a good match to my yellow Rubicon or do you guys think thats too bright for down there?

I would change it now, you will be surprised how full of metal flecks and how dark the fluid will be. When the Diff is new, it does a lot of "wearing" in.

I prefer RedLine... (synthetic)

I am surprised that you don't have it changed already, mine was twice under warranty due to axle seal leaks... guess Dana finally fixed the problem when they updated the seal...

(I has 2 rear, 1 front all under 15K miles)

The question isn't will it hold with the two bolts out, it's how much of a pain will it be to get the cover off with ALL the blts out, sometimes that stuff can be a real b!tch to pry loose.
and like the other guys said get used to pulling the cover and draining all the oil, it's the only way to be sure you get the water in the bottom of the diff, that's leakin in past the seals.
