Has Anyone Welded up the Spiders?Im pretty Poor so I was Thinking up the Rear spiders On my YJ.Anyone running theres like this?I guess it would be the same as a posi on the Street .And what about the front?Could that be Welded up also? When ya put it in 2 wheel drive it would still free spool Right?

Welding the spiders turns your diff into a spool. I have run a few jeep like this, nad would not reccomend it if you do much road driving.

it will not act like posi on the street - posi is a limited slip, so limited torque transfer. This is 50-50 torque transfer... no slip.

If you are running stock axles don't do it as you will end up having to spend money fixing them soon enough, as they can barely take the power of the jeep open.

you can do the front, it would probably handle it better, but i still wouldn't reccomend it as it would make turning in fopur wheel drive horrible.+

I have to agree with Jon on this....

If you use the Jeep as daily driver with a welded rear you're gonna hate it and your tires are gonna make tons of chirping sounds around corners causing unwanted attention. Did I say it will kill the tread life too ?

Unless you have manual hubs in your front axle I can't say I'd weld the front spiders either, and it will be useless in snow and ice because when you want to turn the Jeep will just go straight.

I think you get the idea by now.

Save your $$$ and get a lunchbox locker to start with or upgrade your current axles to Dana 44's or whatever else you might have in mind.

What the heck is a lunchbox locker????? .

The type of Full locker or limited slip which allows you to keep your stock carrier without having to do a complete set-up of the gears and such.

Which keeps the cost down while cheaply adding traction.

Compared to installing Detroits, ARB's, OX-Lockers and such. Which require a full setup of the gears and all.

I got my Lock Rite from Rocky Road Outfitters for $215. Best price I could find at the time.

Cool Thanks For all the Info.I'll just save up and buy some lockers.I think i'll get the Winch first than if I get stuck or cant make it I can just Winch it.

Ohhhh, I see. Never understood that or the lincoln locker thing....Bull.
The lincoln locker thing is welding the spider gears together. Lincoln makes welders, get it? "Lincoln Locker"! There are a bunch of guys getting paid to sit in a room and come up with these names. :tp:

I have one of Detour's 44's in my garage, and it has the powertrax lock-right in it. I'm changing things up soon and will have the lock-right for sale soon. PM me if interested.

Think the 35 will hold up with a powertrack? Im running 35's
You might get away with it if you go easy on the skinny pedal, but you'll probably break something.

PM'd you Mark!

I have a "Super 35" and even I broke stuff, as well as some others have on this board with the same setup.

Remember almost nothing is "unbreakable"
