I am considering the 3'' kit for my 04 Rubicon any pros and cons. I also want to know what you guys think about the transfer case drop same any pros and cons. My brother has a 96 XJ which he just picked up a couple of weeks ago and he is looking at the 3'' kit with new leaves same deal pros and cons. They seem like a good deal and I am wondering how they fair up in a real off-road trip. :D any knowledge on these kits would be great and any pics?

It's what Steve previously used before he went the "Full Traction" route.

I drove it once and I liked it, I think Steve liked it very much also.

I've really been waiting a long time to see what the new TJ long arm kit is gonna be like, it's been in the R&D stage for quite some time now.

Full Traction must have turned their world upside down when they first came out or something.

Marko, I was running the Rusty's 3" with the full leaf packs on that last trip to coy. I let you borrow the gloves. 8) I really liked the kit. Very easy to install. However, the only drawback that I found was that the rear was quite a bit higher than the front. I inquired to Rusty's about the front to rear difference. I was told that there were numerous complaints about the rear being too low when the XJ was fully loaded. They then began to produce a rear leaf pack with 5 leaves instead of 4. By doing this, it raises the rear about 1-1.5". I would still reccomend the 3" kit, but I would also get some 1-2" coil spacers for the front. I think the kit performed very well at Coy. (coupled with a set of front disco's). As far as the TJ kit, I have no idea. Hope this is helpful. P.S. Rusty's is also pretty affordable.

I have installed 2 3" XJ lifts and 1 YJ. I think rustys makes a really good product. In the past i have heard complaints on there customer service but they either did something about that or I have not experienced it. ANy concern i had during the lift installs, I called them up and they answered my questions right away.

1 of the XJ's i did the lift on, was for a friend of mine, he was getting some vibratrions still after the install, and rustys just sent him out every thing he needed to fix that.

I would definately recommend them

Thanks guys. On Rusty's website they mention nothing about adding an adjustable front track bar any more info on this Steve?

Hey GT...just to give you others...I have a '98 tj and Im running a 3" BDS, TC drop and thats it. I run 33" BFG Muds. I like the lift, but my BDS shocks are rusting for some reason(only thing I dont like) Havent really wheeled it other than the RTI at hopyard but it did well, had to stop before my brake lines ripped off...lol. Oh yeah the kit comes with front disconnects. BDS also has a break they replace it for free, no questions asked. I do plan on doing a 1" BL and 1" MM lift this spring for some more clearance as well as new shocks and brake lines. I unfortunately can not afford the Full traction 6" and the stuff to go with it this year....oh well. Bull.

I have a 4.5" rusty's in my cherokee.
They are right, even when you talk to rusty himself, service still sucks.
The reason for the extra leaf isn't for ride height but because of leaf sag in the back. Mine started to look like the golden arches after 30k miles of use. Their fix was an add a leaf! It only took about 2-3 months to get it too.

Other than the rear leafs, the rest of the kit was pretty good. It doesn't come with hardware (bolts / nuts etc) though. You'll probably end up replacing the ball joint on the end of adjustable track bar. A little searching through the napa catalog got me a heavy duty one. Like all of these lift kit places they put junk ball joints in.

Don't get the steering conversion. It's junk. I had it and due to the geometry, the steering wheel would never center in the same place. Looked bullet proof but only off road usage. If your really set on it I have one in my garage.

I just got the Rusty's adjustable track bar with the mounting bracket. Lowers the bar a little on the driver side. by getting the much stouter bracket, the track bar comes with a double ended fixed joint. No ball joint to wear out. I got the bar and bracket for $190. Now for an additional $30 you can ge the steering brace/stiffener ($59retail). I would definetly recommend it. Very easy install. Do it, Do it.
