What would you do?

Ok, so here is my long winded problem,

When I had the brain storm to use the revolvers I had to make some changes to have them clear the rear frame and stop hitting the Kilby Gas tank skid. Now I had seen this done elsewhere so I had the Spring eyes moved to below the frame like in this pic of the rear...

Now this was a good thing, it gave me a little room, made my pinion angle a little better, and also added some lift.

Now to make the Jeep level the front also needed to go down to match, so this was done up front.

Now the problem is my Caster is all off... Instead of being (OEM) 8 degrees positive, I am at 2. Which make my pinion angle high, at 11, and also makes my steering squirlly... so my question is this, what would you do...

I can take all this off and go back down, (welded very well so it can be a little hard to get off) Or I can shim the front end. If I put a 4 degree shim in the front, my caster should go to 6, (not bad) and the pinion would drop to 7.... which I have no idea if that will even help anything being my tcase angle is at negative 4... (see other post about angles)

What do you all think?

Grind the welds out on the C's and rotate them to the right spot. A bit of work but not much cost.
Jeepinrandy has done that before and had a nice step by step writeup of it on his website.

Well that will solve the Caster, however shim idea will also adjust both...

If I adjust the knuckle, I will still have a pinion at 11 degrees. So then I would have to change the perches or shim.

The other problem is that set up is a very permanent one, unlike the shims or going back to OEM height, if I ever run revolvers in the front or do spring over, it will all have to be redone..

Is there any problems with shimming the front?

I also to do a test, un-did the shackles in the pic and let the suspension go up to almost stock location, and I still could not get the caster to get to 8,,,, it was 6. So if that whole time I was running it as 6 and the steering was good, I would think a 4 or 5 degree wedge would put me right back to stock? (stupid TJ's with you adjustable control arms, you will never know the Pain of shims...

It's never a good idea to shim the front, things will start to move around after a wile.Moving the knuckles and perches is an afternoon job no biggie. If you need a hand let me know you can come down to the shop and we'll get it done.

Go SOA now, you'll love it. Just kidding.. I've moved my C's, not a big deal at all. Alot of stupid work that takes all the time. Your better off setting it up properly now, even if it cost alittle more. Believe me you'll be thankful you did it right when your done. After I did the SOA and messed with steering, it steered and handled better than stock.
