Hey guys. I need some guidance.
I replaced the windshield gasket but the windshield won't sit correctly. I tried adjusting by loosening torx screw on windshield, bars and I even tried to re installed the old one, but still about 1/4 inch off. See photo.. before I Crack the windshield please help! Nothing is in the way I put the top on for reference
Hopefully the photo loaded. Thanks in advance

Try posting another pic. First I would remove the cowl seal completely and and try it. If the windshield seats where it should, then it's the cowl seal. You are right by not forcing it. Not sure if you tried heat like we discussed at BBQ.

AI says:

How to Seat the Windshield
The "Long Bolt" Method: Purchase longer bolts with the same thread pitch as your factory windshield-to-roll bar bolts. Start these longer bolts into the windshield frame and slowly tighten them to compress the gasket over several hours or a day. Once the gasket has "learned" its new shape, swap back to the factory bolts.

Ratchet Strap Assist: Run a ratchet strap from the center of the windshield frame to the roll bar. Apply gentle, even pressure to pull the frame back. Do not force it all at once, as excessive pressure can crack the glass or bend the hinges.

Use Heat: Perform the installation in a heated garage or use a heat gun (on low) to warm the rubber gasket. Warm rubber is much more pliable and will compress more easily under pressure.

Check Gasket Seating: Ensure the gasket is tucked properly into the cowl notch. Use a putty knife or a similar straight-edge tool to ensure the lip isn't bunched up or caught, which adds unnecessary thickness.

Loosen the Screws: If you tightened the small Phillips head screws that hold the gasket to the frame too early, back them off slightly. This allows the gasket to shift and settle as you pull the windshield back before doing a final tightening.

I don’t see a photo. Maybe try that again. This is a YJ? You talking about the gasket between the windshield and the body or the gasket that holds the windshield glass itself in?

Yes, it's his YJ. It's the cowl gasket. When he first did it and it didn't seat properly, he extended the header bars, but then found his hard top didn't line up.

On my YJ, the ratchet strap method worked best for me (I was worried about stripping out the threads using the "long bolt" method)

Use ratchet straps that have the rubberized hooks.  Hook one end on the upper lip of the windshield frame on each side.  The other end around the cross bar above the seat back.  One click a time alternating sides so you don't tweak the glass.

Should work.  As others mentioned, heating the cowl gasket a little can help.

Update- Removed doors and adjusted door hinge and windshield bracket ( more like loosening all bolts ). Re- installed everything and in the process of adjusting half doors as well. I have a snorkel on the jeep that was not ment for it, so it created the problem by adding tension on passenger side. As of right now everything is lining up. Thanks for all the input guys.
