I've had "alignments" before. Some shops don't do a particularly good job. Even with electronics, it can still be done badly.
I don't know about caster / camber measurements but tow in can do a lot. I usually just adjust the camber until my pinion is at the right angle.
Park on a flat section of tar.
Duct tape a board parallel to the ground on each front tire just below the centerline. Can use string etc too. Make sure the board is longer than the tire, a litle sticking out front and rear.
Use a tape measure and measure the distance between the boards front and rear. It should be a ~1/8" shorter in the front than the rear.
Use tubular steel, plastic or good flat straight wood boards. They have to be good and flat since you'll be measuring to the 1/16" or smaller.
A bad balljoint will throw this off badly, so check those first. Have someone wiggle the steering wheel with the engine off and feel each joint. There should be no "play" in it.
