YJ transmission

One of guys I work with has an 88 YJ with 4.2 six.
He thinks he blew transmission while plowing, gear selector in first and transmission stuck in neutral.
He is looking for suggestions and what to replace it with and what else needs to be changed.
His is the Peugot stick.
He talked to Aright in NB and they said AX-15

If he goes with an AX-15 have him look for one with an external slave, I forget what year they switched from internal to external, but it will cost about the same and be a heck of a lot easier to work on if needed.

I THINK if he goes ax-15 he will need a transfer case too.IIRC the Peugeot is a 21 spline output. The AX-15 is 23 spline.

*edit looks like it could be 21 or 23 spline

Back in 1993 my transmission from my 1990 YJ 4.2 locked up in gear...  I didn't know better so I had it towed to a shop and they replaced it.  They said the original was the Peugot stick and replaced it with an AX15 - I'm not sure that was correct since the AX15 I have has the 23 spline output and fit's with original T-Case

Been there done that.

Yes he will need to change the transfer case if he changes to an ax-15 and the slave cylinder I have a Napa part number for the clutch assembly he will need too.

Oh and tell him to look for an ax-15 that has the external slave cylinder. I believe some of the older ones weren't external
