ZJ Coil perches & rear brake line.

As I was laying out my lift parts and spraying all the rusted bolts, I noticed that the rear stainless brake line extender from Rubicon Express does not look like it will fit into the stock set up that is attached to the rear axle.

Do I no longer use the stock set up or did they send me the wrong part? Their website pics are all the same no matter what model number you click on so I can't verify that way. The model number I have says its for a CJ/YJ/MJ,( RE1513 Brake Line SS Rear YJ/CJ/MJ - Extended rear stainless steel brake line 22" long), but they don't list another 22 inch option.

I have an email into them but I figured I'd post the queston here as well.

Also, do the rear coil perches on the axle have to be moved as I rotate my axle up to match the drive shaft?  Or is the 3.5 inches of lift not a big deal as far as the springs are concerned ? Just wondering before I start wrenching.

if yours goes into a square mount, with 2 lines coming out each side, and one in the front, usually you replace that and the new one they give you has a block, with a nipple instead. then the rear extended line screws onto the nipple...

however this is what is done for a wrangler, so a pic would be better to confirm a ZJ.

Thanks,
I really didn't think the perches had to be moved, just wanted to confirm.

As far as the brake line extension, I spoke to RE tech support by phone today. They assured me that the unit I have will work - it simply bolts in place of the existing block, on the axle. I don't remember seeing a screw there but I will take a second look.

The tech said that he wouldn't even bother the rear line as the 3.5 inch lift isn't extreme enough. But it was Kevin's Off Road that put the pieces together so I'm just going by what they sold me.

I already have the line so i might as well use it.

I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Thanks

This is how mine worked out.  i had to weld a bolt to the tube to attatch the junction block to the 8.8, but on your stock axle the breather screw holds down the junction block.  make sure to blast the brake lines on the existing junction block with pb blaster....they will be a PITA to get off of there.  HTH

Cool, thanks so much Kevin. That's the RE extension I've got.

My hardware underneath shouldn't be too bad. I spent all last Summer under the ZJ painting, cleaning and rust-busting in anticipation of this install. Most of the touble spots have been hit

As a matter of fact, the install would have been done in October but Rubicon Express didn't get my 2 "back ordered" shocks to me until the snow was flying and then the holidays hit.

Kinda put a damper on the whole wheeling feeling.

This weather isn't boosting my "let's lay on my back in the garage" attitude any either!! It's COLD   back East!
