SOLD - Our trusty 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo (one time owner) took a hit and was totaled by the insurance company due to high mileage. Over it's entire life we have taken super care of it with routine maintenances (e.g. oil changes every 3,000 to 4,000 miles) and replacing parts with OE (e.g. the front drive shaft around 177,000, headlight lenses when they fogged up over time). The set of Michelin Latitude Tours (OWL P225 75R16 DOT B7DW002X4614 (all four)) on it have only approx. 8,100 miles and 7 months; 10/32 to 11/32" tread left. The car has nearly 289,000 miles. I have scanned in the last 5 year maintenance history and can share.
If you or you know somebody who wants the whole car for the remaining PARTS or for a project to REPAIR it as a salvage let us know. It could be a great off roader (or on roader, again): SelecTrac FT 4WD, 4.0 liter Power Tech I-6 high output straight six, quadro coil suspension, shale green metallic clear coat, agate interior, cloth low-back bucket seats (115 lb and 165 lb max weight of drivers/passengers), fog lamps, keyless convenience group, AM/FM/Cassette/CD/equalizer. Note only part besides damage below that doesn't work on the car is the CD player (radio, cassette and equalizer does). Yakima locking ski rack mounted on OEM rack.
The car was damaged in the front left. After the low speed collision it still drives perfectly straight and balanced with "no hands". The repair estimate lists the following: 1.1 hrs for stripes and moldings (cladding front left fender and door, molding rocker panel), 2.1 hrs front bumper (cover, clips, license bracket), 0.6 hrs left headlamp assembly - though lights still operate fully), 5.8 hrs front panel hood repair and refinish and 5.4 hrs front left fender replace and refinish, front left wheel replace, 2.9 hrs front left door shell repair and refinish (2.0 hours R & I Assembly door components). What took it over the top is if there is any hidden unibody damage which was not confirmed but may be there if one wants to repair it as a totaled vehicle (6.0 hrs for Unibody-Frame: Anchoring damage repair/refinish, partial repair; Square upper rails, sway to right, repair; Refinish; Additional operation). An additional 7 hrs for painting & materials was added. The repair estimate is total of 28.5 hours and parts and material at $1,586.50 and sublet repairs of $617.72. For someone who is able to do all or part of this work as a project it may be worthwhile. If I had the skill and equipment I would. Will post as many images as possible.
