Moving to Connecticut?

If you are moving to CT - here's a video with a list of cities/towns to avoid taking up residence.

Ansonia
Norwalk
Danbury
New Britain
New London
Derby
New Haven
Waterbury
Hartford
Bridgeport

Having worked in all of these places, I have to agree with the list.  Not surprised with Bridgeport as the worst place to live, I grew up near there and even back then it was dangerous - one of the few places I've been shot at (surprised Stratford didn't make the list...)

The statistics on crime, income, & education are sad

I'll watch the video later for what he says specifically but living in Debry and next to Ansonia I wouldn't say they're places you need to avoid. They definitely aren't the best but like everywhere there are nice places in the towns you can live. Knock on wood but the street I live in has been crime free for a long time, despite a few people looking for open car doors. Derby is a long ways away from a nice downtown area but Ansonia has been on the rise for awhile now. The public schools need a lot of work but the two state schools are brand new facilities and there's good options for private schools nearby. Also close to the city and Sikorsky if you're looking for higher income. But, like most other places lacking industrial/commercial development areas, town taxes are a killer.

I’d suggest skipping all of Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, Tolland and Windham Counties.

7 out of the 10 places listed are the most populous cites/towns in the state.  Of course numbers are going to be higher.
But this list is askew,  Norwich is not even mentioned on this list.  That city is sketchy.  I should know,  I work in the Greenville section of it.....

I was gonna say the same thing about Norwich. I keep seeing stuff in the news about more shootings there…

What became of the Brass plant? I had vending machines in there for thirty years before they closed.

They just started this year on working to revive that area. Got a few state Grant's I believe to clean it up

Norwich has been going downhill fast.

I'm just glad my neighboring town of Willimantic is finally off the top ten list...

From what I’ve seen/heard over the last decade, Willimantic is slowly doing the revival thing. Repurposing old abandoned/empty buildings with breweries, small shops, etc.

It’s all about perspective. My old job surveyed people living in Bridgeport and a lot of them had lived there a long time and wouldn’t want to leave even if they had an opportunity. Some people prefer the busy lifestyle of a “city” but I highly doubt there will be many Jeep people who choose that lifestyle.

You have to remember- if it bleeds it leads. Media is saturated with crime stories. I’ve been in the criminal justice community for 20 years. Crime stats have little to do with quality of life. There are great places to live in Hartford and New Haven, and I’ve seen the worst of people in little towns like Union and Putnam.

How can a NC guy who doesn’t know how to say “foliage” rate CT???? Silly YouTubers.
