Good Afternoon everyone,
Tantalizing subject line right?!
I'm not making any promises but the hard work has begun with the DEEP. I'm inviting all CT Clubs to a meeting (2-3 representatives) to discuss a wide range of topics from sticker programs to trail maintenance equipment. I'm asking those who participate to have a intimate knowledge of the inner workings of their respective clubs. I would be happy if representatives from NOVA and the NEA, not just member clubs as well. We have begun to call them out to work with us to "fill the holes" in their policies and create new ones that better suite the modern era of both 4x4 and power sports recreation and we've been getting feedback. My honest opinion is that 4x4 access will be granted first because of the ten million hoops we have to jump through for what is called the "ATV Policy" from the DEEP. I realize this may take several meetings to get everything nailed down but we have to start somewhere and I want us to have the first crack at calling the shots because the DEEP is completely lost in this subject matter. I highly suggest discussing some of these issues amongst the club to determine where you stand and ask yourself "can I live with that?" sort of situations where compromise may be necessary. If interested, supply your name and email address to ctohvaccess@gmail.com. We are shooting for the early side of June. Your email address will be used for scheduling purposes.
I need to know exactly what terms we can live by in order to gain access. This includes:
- Who will be responsible for trail maintenance
- How will a sticker program be applied or even conceived.
- There are no rules written for 4x4's, this has to be developed by the 4x4 community for the 4x4 community.
- Compiling a list of existing areas suitable for use.
- The issues with buggies and registrations.
- Enforcement
