No tax for trailers

Was at city hall today in assessors office and found out the state passed a new ordinance that exempts snowmobiles, atv's and personal utility trailers from property tax across the state.

Got my car trailer taken off my taxes for this year (STARTED OCTIBER 1ST 2024)

And starting this coming October my 05 LJ will be 20 years old and he gave me a form to fill out so it's only taxed at an assessed value of $500, no need for antique plates.

That should save a couple of bucks next year.

Funny, our town sent bills out with all normal charges. I wonder how many will pay it and if they will honestly return it.
NOT

If I could avoid avoid antique plates and only have Syd and my Acura assessed at $500, I’d be a happy man!

Fuck, i just payed mine today. I'm off Friday so I'll go down and complain

My trailer value was zero on the tax assessment this year.

I thought last year (maybe 2 years ago) that they changed the way they assess older vehicles and trailers.  I had to send the town pictures of my trailer and send them the original cost for the Red Jeep to keep it's value at $500 for taxes without antique plates.

The weird thing is that before the re-evaluation the 1990 Wrangler was valued more than the 1997 Wrangler.

Give us the bloody form number!

Same on my taxes. Trailer was zero. Two classic plated vehicles were like $16 each but my 05 LJ and motorcycle made up the majority of the bill

One of the few times driving old paid off POS vehicles is worth it

So here's the paperwork I got from town hall.
The 3 pages look like they were printed from the states web site and has to do with the new way they are putting a value on a vehicle, no more blue book value now they go by msrp  and deduct for depreciation each year.

On year 20 it says not less than 500 value but it doesn't say it could be valued for more.

Picture uploaded out of order, last page is first

Here's the form I got from the assessors office
Looks like it's a town printed form and not a state form

It does site the states laws regarding special interest vehicles, antique and rare vehicles

Assessor seem to think my jeep qualified as special interest so I was fine with that

The assessor told me to fill out the form, and the jeep would only be taxed at 500 next year, so I'll see what happens next july

Don't know what other towns will do but maybe some of the paperwork work will help

Should be on the 65k when your truck was made

This new way of computing value are a State thing not just my town

3 of my vehicles tax's went down just my commercial truck went up from 125 tax to 470 and after i spoke to assesor he looked up the value and reassessed and cut the tax by 250.

So with removing the tax for the trailer and everything added up my taxes were a few hundred cheaper than last year, which they should be since vehicles lose value every year.

This is from middle field but it sounds like this should be what they're doing state wide
