Water heater question

Stand by, just found this. I’ve been testing it with the covers off and insulation removed.

Seems a little wonky...

If temp is set at 120 it should not be at 160 out of faucet, that will burn.

And relief valve should not vent unless something is wrong and having too high a temp or too high a pressure are the reasons.

If the element went bad maybe the thermostat in the tank went bad too and is not controlling temp like it should and might need to be replaced too.

Worst case an electric water heater is the cheapest to replace and might be the best option if the high temps and venting continues.

Yeah. This is my last effort before probably moving on.  It’s a water heater that looks like it has lousy reviews to start With. It’s not what I would have picked. We may be working our way rapidly toward replacement.

So far I’m in in for $30 but I’m not going to go crazy with this one.

It’s been maintaining the water temp at the taps at 118 since midnight last night so I think it was the simple answer this time. Probably time to consider our future water heater. We have natural gas from the street that runs our furnace so I’m assuming that means in the future we could switch to a gas heater as well as stove if we wanted.

Do you have hot air or a boiler, if boiler you could just pipe in an indirect water heater?
