Lets talk about mirror cameras

I saw what Pete and Rob had at Cabela's. After checking out a few, I have questions.
My rearview mirror is useless because of a spare tire on the back. That's what leading me to this, as well as my current shitty dash cam is on its last leg.

What model(s) did you get and if you were to do it over, what more feature(s) would you want? Or, are you happy with the way it is?
Did you get the aux wiring kit to have it powered up all the time? Will this eventually kill the battery?
I'd like to run from the keyed power plug. I'm not concerned with catching stuff when parked.(i think)
The 4k front 1080 rear is fine with me. I'm good with that.
I'm good with it not functioning as a mirror when it's off. (That mirror shows nothing but tire sidewall anyways)
My main concern and the problem with the old cam I have now, is that the onboard battery is small and only served to maintain time/date at power-down (when it was working)
Now that that molded in battery has reached end of life, my date and time are always wrong. It's basically a factory reset every start up. (useless)
The whole idea of manually setting an onboard clock is ancient. My thinking is that a good unit will pull the correct date and time from the GPS or the internet every time it starts up.
There is no freakin way I'm going to set this thing every day. The date and time NEED to be retained or sync'd every time.
I like the idea of GPS location but might settle for not having it.
Also, what is the wifi connectability for?  Do you need to set your phone as a hot spot? Or is that for new cars with onboard wifi? (Not sure I want that thing sucking all my data)
What else do I need to know?
Thanks

pete put one in my Jk. I have no idea the brand but it was awesome. It had what seemed to be a 200 degree field of view and was crystal clear

Brian (or Goob as you remember him) has the wolfbox in his VW and his side by side. He loves it. It’s solves the exact issue you’re talking about on his side by side due to tool and spare tire placement. Plus if anything were to happen he would have a recording of it to prove he was not at fault or show what happened.

I have a Wolfbox in mine.  Got it off Amazon for $100
Like you said,  I installed it so I don't have to try and look around the spare tire.  Added bonus,  if you wire it to the reverse lights,  it turns into a backup camera.
I wired mine to an ACC switch,  so it's only running when the jeep is on.

Mine is on all the time when driving, nice to see behind me.  It also has a front facing that you can record with a SD card

This thing looks awesome. Where is your rear camera located?
I'd have to get creative to put it in the center of the spare.

So does the Wolfbox mirror just clip attach over the OEM mirror?  Or can it replace it completely

So it comes with rubber strap so that you can "bungee" it over the OEM mirror.
Or what I did was purchase the additional bracket, so that you can replace the OEM mirror completely.

Mine is mounted to the 3rd brake light.
Btw.  The mirror is a touch screen.  So once you mount the cameras, you can fine-tune the view on the screen.
