What did you do to your Jeep today?

I properly spooled my winch....

That's the BORING way to respool your winch...

What you want to do, is find a nice secluded hill out in the woods with a nice sized tree at the top.  Hook onto that and back your jeep down the hill very slowly paying no mind to how many wraps are still on the drum...

THEN, and this is important...  You put the jeep in neutral and GET OUT OF THE JEEP, and walk to the front.  You then begin to wrap the spool, and here's where it get's FUN!  You listen to the winch line twang as it releases itself from the drum, then you make a mad dash down the hill to catch your, now runnaway, jeep before it crashes at the bottom of the hill.

If you're lucky, and quick enough, you'll stop the jeep BEFORE the bottom of the trail and the turn where there are nice trees waiting to kindly and SUDDENLY help you stop the vehicle...

If you've done all that successfully, you then check your drawers for new debris, after which you pull the Jeep back up to the now slack line laying on the ground.  Put the Jeep in Park and apply the emergency brake, then wait a good 20-30 minutes for your nerves and adrenaline to level out, and start again...  This time paying attention to the number of wraps you begin with...

Now THAT'S fun!  and the most exciting and enjoyable way to respool your winch.

Drove mine yesterday for the first time since Nov. With all the updates I had to really learn to drive her again.  Working gas gauge , What a concept. FjR68
