Don’t take one for a test drive unless your ready to buy one. They are really nice!

Don't give the rental back until it's fixed fixed

That's the plan - she dropped it off at our original dealership today.  Originally they were booked until the end of the month, but the owner remembered us from our prior purchases and service and texted my wife yesterday and told her they will fit her in this week They will check it out tomorrow.  Prior to this my wife was looking at new Jeep options she can afford and she was checking out the Renegade Trail Hawk.  Funny her rental was a Renegade! That being said since we hade a Renegade, she insisted on going to the local Jeep dealership after hours to compare it with the Compass, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee.  She hates the look of the Cherokee, and the size and cost of the new Grand.

The Compass was way more Jeep looking than the Renegade!  The only Jeep Compass that comes in her favorite color is the Trail Hawk (and has a supposed low range)

I may have lost the battle for her keeping the 2011 JKU

I agree, that looks nice.  I sent that pic to my wife to see if she likes it.

She's starting to push hard to replace the 04 Grand Cherokee.  We really don't need the size of the Grand with the kids gone.  If we go on a trip we usually take the truck.

Update - This dealership (where we bought it) did a comprehensive inspection today (not just a test drive)  Diagnosed the analog brake system (the usual -brake lines, master cylinder, calipers, pads, etc)  But I'm happy they tested the ABS Control Module, valve assembly, and ABS pump (not done by the other place).  The ABS module scanned fine, but as an electrical board it could be intermittently bad - the tech said it could be months to get one.  The valve assembly and ABS pump checked out fine.

Apparently The Lifetime Added Care Plus Warranty only covers the issue if the dealership can prove a defective part.

If not covered the replacement of the ABS Assembly (ABS Module, Valve Assembly, an ABS Pump) will be around $2500 if they can get the parts

They want to keep it for another day or two to see if if they can replicate the problem to help out warranty and were concerned about my wife driving it

Dealership probably wouldn't touch this, but what about getting the full module out of a wreck and having it installed? Look it up in car-part.com and see what's out there.

JK Brake issue – after they tested everything, the manager want’s take it for the weekend to see if he could replicate the issue.  My wife told him “so you hope the brakes go out and you get into a crash?”  He said he’s raced junk Jeeps in the past and will be OK!

As far as the warranty goes – since the supply chain issues, they can’t get the part - if I can find a genuine MOPAR ABS control module – this dealer will install and pay for it under the crazy million mile warranty!

My wife want’s a new Compass Trail Hawk now and they are hard to find.  She located one in Methuen MA today and plan’s on purchasing it.

Options:
Trade in the 2011 JK with 130K Miles and lifetime warranty for $15-$18K towards the new Compass
Buy the new 2021 Compass TrailHawk and try to sell the 2011 JK
Buy the new 2021 Compass TrailHawk and keep and fix up the 2011 JK with the million mile warranty for a DD for me (my 1999 TJ is getting old and hard to get into these days)
