I am planning a regear for the LJ. I currently have 3.73 gears and am regearing to 4.56's and looking for thoughts on parts to use
Looking new ring & pinions and rebuild kits, I keep coming back to this Yukon combo kit https://www.yukongear.com/shop/ygk007?srsltid=AfmBOooFCMkwx0mJkwCodohsyex7uAr5yoPFhOG_VfGdZ7kiPiTmjfOD
For just over $550 it has the ring, pinion and master rebuild kits for both the D30 and D44. That's super cheap when compared to buying the parts separately, which has me wondering why it's so in expensive.
I've heard Yukon quality has gone way down over the past number of years, but again the price, and is another brand really any better in days of making everything in China.
One other catch, is the carrier break for the D30 is 3.73, where it's 3.92 for the 44. So if go with that kit I have get a new carrier for the 44. Rockauto has USA Standard year open carriers for $90, so that wouldn't be a killer. I can reuse the spartan locker. I think it's weird no one sells a thin cut gear spacer for a D44. I could also throw budget to the wind and get a Yukon Zip locker for the rear to match the front.
