A set of 4.88 gears just popped up at a good price. Have 35s on 3.73s now. Doesn't suck but regearing is in the future.

Any feedback on 4.88s? Was planning 4.56 next year but the price is good now....

My 4.0 with 6sp did 35s with 373 long time, changed to 488 wouldn’t go back it’s anazing

You will like 4.88 with a five speed and 35" tires.

Personally pick the hat set you think you need and then go one deeper. So 4.88 is perfect if you were thinking 4.56. This will give you room to grow with tire size

Great advice Tom!  When I built my 1st Jeep I wanted it to feel like the then new Rubicon that came with 4.11  gears and 245/75R16 (around 31"tires)  when I stepped up to 33's  - so I went with 4.56 .  Great for 33" tires and OK for 35" tires with a 5 speed.  one size up back then 4.88 would have been perfect!

I went from 3.73s on 32s  to  4.56s on 35s  and its only a 300 RPM gain on the road. Wanted and should have gone 88s.  Deal is I only run a 4 speed and its near a K RPMs. Then came the 4x1 in the 300 .  OH YEA !  Thats the ticket right there.  Its just how bad do you want to go slow and have soooooo much control !  FjR68
